Okay, so the hard drive on my computer crashed a couple weeks ago, and I’ve got a new one and everything..however, I don’t know which driver I need to install to make the volume and brightness keys work again, using the blue Fn key..does anyone know?? If it helps, my computer is a Sony Vaio, PCG-71315L…

I have no clue, but I’ll Rec this post to help get this post to hopefully a knowledgeable person.
Maybe this model? http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=PCG731&template_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=download#/downloadTab
If dirvers don’t work, this might be worth checking: http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C259852
Try this and scroll down to user jasebond007. This person explains fully what to do. I hope it helps! Good luck!
@Celestial_Teapot - This is the model number: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=VPCEB4BGX&template_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=download#/downloadTab I’m not seeing anything for hot keys…
@boricua_chic_2008 - I think you have to download the driver for the specific model or it won’t work.
@Celestial_Teapot - And, for some reason I can’t install the utilities driver. It says that I am not authorized to run the install, and to do it from an administrative account…and this account is the admin account, so I have no idea what’s wrong or what I’m supposed to do.
To do admin. work on a computer you would either have to have the disc for that or someone whom is authorized to do it.
Some computers will when you put in the disc to install the programs will fix the color etc for you auto. Sounds like this is not doing it or what else you need. Bro. Doc
Sorry, wish I did!
The general rule, especially with laptops, is this: if you need drivers for something, and you don’t know what kind of device it is or anything like that, it’s usually part of the chipset.
You should go to Sony’s web site and find the driver downloads section, then look up your laptop model number and the operating system you’re using. Find any drivers pertinent to the laptop’s chipset, and try each one until the problem is resolved. If it turns out not to be a chipset driver that you need, you’ll have to make some educated guesses about which other listed drivers might be pertinent.
