Xangalebrities and Tags
Okay, so I’ve never used a User Tag. I feel like I’m not privileged enough to tag fellow Xangans in my posts. Well, let’s get one thing out of the way as well: I don’t think I’ve ever written a post that would even require a user tag!
That being said, I don’t go around saying things like “Yeah, me ‘n Theologian talked the other day about such-n-such”; or insert Simbathe2nd, or MyxlDove. I’m not even in the same league as them!
Really, I’m just a small-time blogger, barely on the radar! (and that’s okay with me!) Sure, yesterday I had a hit with one post, but that was my first time ever on Top Blogs. And, honestly, it got me all kinds of excited.
Anyway, I don’t think I’ll ever put Fairywife in a user tag, nor Paul_Partisan, TheBigShowAtUD (even though he says he doesn’t know everything, I think he’s a genius. Maybe.), or bluedreamer85.
Look, I’m not a name-dropper, people! I don’t go around talking about vandave!
I feel like I couldn’t even mention iStephanieMarie! I just sent her a friend request, and she JUST accepted it earlier today.
There’s so many others I could mention…like trunthepaige, repressedwriter, or one_eared_batman…the list goes on….
As far as user tags go, sure, I’ve been tagged from time to time…but really, I’ve never used them. Will I ever? I don’t know.
Sort of on the same subject, I have once again been thinking about Xangalebrity Status. Look, I’m no where near being one of these high-profile Xangans, but I’ve thought about becoming one once in a blue moon. BUT….since yesterdays post launched me on the front page under Top Blogs, I have thought, maybe I don’t want to be a Xangalebrity.
You get more haters, more (completely unwanted) spammers (maybe), and more trolls. Plus, it’s hard even becoming a Xangalebrity! Well, I suppose I have a question…or two. Where’s the line between Xangalebrity Status and NON-Xangalebrity Status anyway? How do you know? Do you guys user tag each other all the time? Does anyone ever even use user tags? OMG I DON’T KNOW!!
Well, I suppose that’s all I have. By the time my post is off the page, I’ll be another regular Xangan…if I’m not already….and that’s okay.
By the way, thanks to everyone who rec’d my post yesterday, I really appreciate it! And I’m at work and super busy (other than writing this post!) so I’ll try and read everyone’s posts later… =]
(ps- Please don’t be mad at me for the user tags…it would ruin my somewhat sarcastic nature =])

user tags don’t bother me unless they are for random blogs..
and can we get rid of the word Xangalebrities already hahah.. it makes me cringe.. i am just a regular guy after all.
I never tag or name drop a Xangaceleb in my blogs.
@Paul_Partisan - I agree, I hate when people randomly user tag me just so that I’ll read their post. It makes me not want to read it at all.
Oh the irony.
i rarely drop names, so i don’t have to usertag. haha. although, if you mention other Xangans in your blog, you probably should. it’s like a courtesy, i suppose.
I don’t mind unless the post has nothing to do with me. I hate when people tag their whole friend list for no reason.
I’ve never used the tag either. I wonder what would happen if I ever did.
I only tag a person if I think they’ll enjoy the post I’ve written and they’re in it. Yesterdays post was the exception. I felt I had to get the word out to as many people as possible.
lol funny.
it seems that you have talent, that was meant for…
are you born in the virgo days?
Only I know you are whoring for e-props. Good job.
(LMAO, you got vandave to visit. I should teach you a few more tricks.)
I’ve tagged folks a few times. I swim in the same circles as a few big wigs or near big wigs. >_> But I’m nowhere near being a big fish in the xanga-sea xD
How do I know? Because I get “ONLY” a thousand page views per week, and only twenty comments short of a hundred. With an average of four new subscribers a month.
A big wig gets at least a hundred comments and subscribers a month, plus several thousand page views. >_>
I’m not sure if I want to be a xangalebrity per se. I just want to carve out a decent niche here on xanga and get more people thinking, that’s all xD
You can always tell who the real xanga whores are by who will come out to a post about xangalebrities and hope they were listed again.
That pretty much describes everyone above me. They are all xanga whores.
I just came on a recommend so I am all clear.
@TheTheologiansCafe - yeah right, you came to check your status… =P
I rarely user tag. I think I’ve done it once… maybe twice.
Okay, sorry everyone for not getting back to this right away…it was one of those days at work where everyone wants something done…ugh…anyway.
@Paul_Partisan - Haha I agree, that word gets old…but I suppose as long as Xanga is around, we will have that word…and I didn’t realize until I read your comment that I said it 6 times total including the title…and that is just sad! And thanks for the rec!
@XndraXstz - Up until now, I never have either!
@SimplyNita - Oh I know what you mean! There used to be this one person that tagged every single one of his friends for every single post. It was annoying, to say the least =[
@theRyeCatcher - Heh, I know, right?
@TheBigShowAtUD - I was going to say that I've never talked about a fellow Xangan in my blog, but then I remembered the other day I said a little something about ASM...I suppose I should tag her..but she's hardly ever on here anymore..hmm.
@vanedave - I know, that bothers me too..but it hasn't happened to me in awhile.
@Justin_DeBin - I don't know. Maybe you'll get beaten over the head with a wet noodle?
@Lithium98 - I agree, I think your post was important. Hopefully TheXangaTeam will take into some account those ideas, because there's some really great ones out there.
@caminjammers -
@tomakeapoint - lol what's my talent for? Nope, I'm a cusp child...I was born the morning of March 21st, so I'm Aries and Pieces...though my personality is more aligned with Aries.
@curious33 - lmao, what makes you think I was whoring for eprops? I was making a legitimate post! I think you're just jealous I didn't mention you! lol jk...yeah, vandave visited. I don't think that's ever happened before! =]
@MyFreedomWings - So true, so true. I just want my own little space too =] I love the vids you post, especially Jon Stewart, he’s hilarious! And thanks for the rec!
@TheTheologiansCafe - I don’t know…part of me thinks you just wanted to see if you were on the list
And you’re the first name! Maybe it’s because we share a fascination with boobs…
@XDaemonessX - Ha I think you may be right =]
ah, even better. i have never liked the male aries… but the female aries seems to get along better with the male taurus. i wonder why?
@tomakeapoint - I don’t really know, I haven’t studied astrology all that much. Basically the only things I know are about Aries! Haha
You wouldn’t put me in a tag? why not? *hugs anyway** =)
@crazy2love - hahahahahahah…. yes indeed!
I never get tagged.
seriously.
I panicked when I got on Top Blogs too. The concept of Xangalebrities never touched me until then. I don’t think I am one, though I get on Top Blogs more frequently now. It’s okay to be one or to not be one. Just as long as you’re a blogger, who cares?
@crazy2love - I didn’t realize you were a fellow boob lover.
I use a user tag with a few people who have asked me to tag them when I post incase they miss one. Other than that it’s only used for when you mention a person in a post.
Really there is no line between xangalebrity and non xangalebrity. It’s all up to a person perseption. For instance I don’t consider myself a xangalebrity in all honesty. I don’t get near as much response as bigshow or wherethefishlives.
I asked my readers and the general opinion seems to be against tags.
Wow, I’m getting to the party late and it wasn’t even because of a user tag.
Anyway, I don’t tag people unless they’re mentioned in my post. Which isn’t that often since I tend to ramble on about my wife and kids, unless I’m doing a TBO post. Plus, my metablogging is few and far between. Still, I’m kinda like vanedave in that I HATE it when people tag me because they want me to read or see something that has nothing to do with me.
That reminds me… you left a comment on one of my posts that I’ve been meaning to follow up on. I’ll send you a message later. Good post!
Now that you’ve broken into the world of tagging, the Xangalebrities (what IS one anyway?) will have to watch out for you. You’re on your way to joining their ranks. Good post.
If I mention someone in a post, then I use user tags…well, sometimes.
Maybe I should use them more? hmmm…
Name droppin’ in xanga is cool with me…and you have shared quite the list of names here on Xanga.
But, like Paul said…even the popular Xangans are just regular people…like you.
me included.
I don’t mind usertags like how you used it. That’s what they’re for! I hate it when people write posts and link EVERYONE just to get them to read it. That’s cheating!
I hardly ever use usertags even if i’m talking about a fellow xangan
i only tag users if i mentioned them in the post hahah…and yeahhh I hate it when someone tags me in something and I click it and its like a page full of graphics or something -_-
@bluedreamer85 - haha, it was more sarcastic than anything =] I might use user tags again if I write a fiction story about a whole bunch of Xangans, lol. And thanks for the rec!
@fading_roses19 - I never really have either, lol.
@Meowmeowkimmaee - I agree, I’m going to say what I’m going to say, and whoever wants to read it can read it =]
@TheTheologiansCafe - lol yep. Love em =]
@Simbathe2nd - Well, considering how busy at work I’ve been and everything else going on, I haven’t had time to read anyone’s posts or respond to comments! Thanks for the rec!
@Justin_DeBin - That makes sense, because it seems like user tags are generally misused.
@MyxlDove - Thanks! And yes, I’ve read your message, but I haven’t had any time at all to respond to it…I’m so busy here at work I probably shouldn’t even be responding to my comments, lol!
@crazy2love - lol np…*hugs*
@crazy2love - Though it would be lovely to just plow on through as you always have, the downside to having a larger audience is that you should probably take more precautionary measures such as not including specific locations, full names, or someone else’s personal information.
@AnamcharaConcepts - lol, thanks. I’m not sure what defines a xangalebrity, but it’s a seemingly widely-used term.
@edlives - Haha, yeah, we are all people. I’ve never really written about the people on here before, although it seems like a common thing to do.
@iStephanieMarie - I know, it is cheating…and more than slightly annoying!
@noree_n - Yep..and while I love photos people tend to post, I’d rather look at them if I want to, not to see what the tag was all about.
i guess thats good?
Lol, I love this, this is kinda funny. :p
I actually feel much the same way. Sometimes, I wish I could write something that’d be good enough to be featured, but I hate the spotlight at the same time! I’ve never been featured, but most of me is glad about that. :p
Mostly for the same reasons that you cited. You just get way more of the crap in the equation most of the time. The trolls, the haters, the flamers, etc.
So, while on one hand I think it’d be nice to be recognized, on the other hand I kind of like being in the background a little more right now. :p
I think I’ve only user tagged maybe…twice? Hahaha. And it’s only because I mentioned a Xangan in my post.
So..you used them correctly, at least!
Haha this is awesome. I only tagged a user once, because the post was inspired by one of her posts, so I figured it was the right thing to do. Other than that I don’t use it!
I almost always forget to add the user tags when I mention somebody in my posts. Sometimes I catch it quickly and go back to add them. Sometimes, I don’t catch it until whoever I mentioned has already commented and then I figure there’s no point. I really should try to organize my thoughts better before I post!
I like the sarcasm here. Well done.
haha great post.
This, and its commentary from various bloggers, is pretty funny!
Wow. I finally made a list. I feel like I should give a speech or something!!
I use tags only when I mention a person in a post. Hasn’t happened often. And I don’t even know when I’m tagged. I read this because of a rec; I missed it as the original post. (I’m on vacation, there’s only so much I can do!!!)
Big plus of being on an ish, you cannot be tagged. You can’t tag either but who cares.
More proof that writing about Xanga is the best way to get attention on Xanga.
@vampyrette - haha, I pretty much agree. My life is really hectic right now, and I’ve barely had time to read anyone’s blog and respond to comments, much less write many blogs that are really worth reading!!
@Fairywife - Haha thanks! And thanks for the rec =]
@forever_musing - Yeah, I think that would be a good reason to user tag…or if you write a response post I suppose. Thanks for the rec =]
@saintvi - Thanks! I think I’m one of the most sarcastic people I’ve ever met…but for some reason that doesn’t generally come out in my posts!! I think it’s because it’s mostly my tone of voice, lol. I just thought about this post because I’ve only come across people that mass tag everyone on their friends list, so it seems the general consensus is that most people don’t use tags and find them annoying because they are largely misused.
@bamzilicious26 - Thank you =]
@Krissy_Cole - haha thanks! I try…but it seems that when I TRY to be funny, most people think I’m not. Normally people think I’m funny when I DON’T try!! I say something, and people start laughing…but I don’t know what they’re laughing at! lol I’m promised that people aren’t laughing at me! Thanks for the rec =]
@repressedwriter - Oh, I know about not being on a computer much…and it drives me crazy! lol. I don’t even pay attention to user tags either because it seems like most of the time, it’s just misused…so I could have missed something! lol and thanks for the rec!
