  • How Am I Supposed To Figure This Out…

So I’ve been thinking of what I want to go to school for. Here is my serious list:

Librarian. I love books. Yes, I’m a nerd.

    Editor. I love to read.

High School Math Teacher. I love math. It’s easy for me. Again, my nerdiness is showing. It’s okay, I’m comfortable with that.

School Counselor. Let’s face it, I like helping people. The down side is that I get emotionally attached…maybe not such a good career choice….

University English Teacher. I loved all my english classes in college. The instructor was awesome, and I sort of wanted her job.

Historian. With this degree, I could work in a musuem or some such thing. I love and truly appreciate history.

Biologist. I want to study animals. The downside is that I’d have to memorize all kinds of funky Latin names that no one can pronounce. (Can also get into Zoology)

Environmental Scientist. I want to study the earth and such things. I think it’s very interesting.

Geologist. I think studying the earth is very interesting.

I also think sociology and life sciences are interesting. My unrealistic interests are photography, writing, producing, and directing.

I don’t know what to do!!!!

  • Is there any of them that you like more than the other? If not, which one is the easiest to get a job in and which one pays really good? That’s what I think when I’m choosing courses… it sucks because I can never make up my mind. Lol.

  • This one is always a tough decision to approach.
Of course, it is worthwhile to realize that a career choice is not a limitation to your personality. It is merely what path you wish to take as a profession.

I remember when I was in this exact position (although I don’t think I’m too much older than you. Hmm.). My choices were musician, writer/editor, graphic artist, artist in general, teacher, historian, police officer, detective, security, etc. … I realized that some of that stuff I can engage in as past-time, and that I wasn’t limited to label. … I went with my gut and took on music, which evolved into music business.

Last night, actually, I went to see my friends, of whom I’ve known since kindergarten (and have helped, promoted, produced, and recorded for within the span of their own music career), perform at the Sound Bar, in Minneapolis. I wore a suit coat, with a pot shirt (I figured it said, formal but willing to party. lol). I got them to throw my name on the guest book, barged past the line, and the security at the door, and enter without paying. I chilled with my friends, drank free liquor, and joked with some other people we knew who came to see us/them. I dispersed business cards. I conversed and talked business with other rappers who had come to the club, speaking philosophy on how the music on the radio today is talentless, and imitative of everyone else, and that the Minnesota music scene needs to make itself known, because there is real talent in this scene. I met the club owner personally, and was invited to his next meeting with my friends. I got to stand front stage to see other acts, watch my friends perform, and see a multitude of people walk up to them and give them props,… and I managed to get a little too after my friends made it apparent that I was their producer.

    Yep.

I don’t think I regret my choice of career. lol

Bottom line, do something that you absolutely love doing, because if you do, you won’t work a day in your life.

  • @Pyronide - Ahh. Well, senior year (and high school in general) was very stressful, and I couldn’t go to school again right away, so I worked full time. I waited a year and a half before slowly tackling college part time while still working. I decided I don’t want to do accounting anymore, so I’m looking at things that I do want to do. It’s been a rough road.

I’ve only been to one show from the local scene…at a cafe in Osseo. It was pretty sweet.

  • My boyfriend is a gelologist so if you wanna more information just tell me ! (but we are both french). Environmment scientist and geologist can be doing at the same time in France. Nice job too !

I personnaly want to become a primary school teacher, but we have so many perturbation (because new reforms about educational system so many problems), and in fact I don’t know if it still possible for me to do this… I wanted to become historian or archeologist when younger, but in fact i just achieve my english degree at University so too late for me to re-make 3 years (and then 5 more) ^^
