  • I have a question for everyone….

    I’m wondering if everyone is a prisoner at work like I am. Can you go out to your car on break? Are you able to leave the building you work in to go out for lunch? Are you able to run out to your car if you forget something? Like, say, money?

    I really really think this should be illegal. If I faint from hunger, I’m suing.

  • I’m a night supervisor for a 50 bed homeless shelter, the only staff on duty from midnight to eight am. No break, no lunch… the only good thing is that I can raid the kitchen if need be. That is if they have any left-overs…

  • I’ve experienced being a prisoner at work during my medical training as a clerk & intern.

  • @WalkingaNewPath - @icapillas - Aha, thanks! Now I don’t feel quite so alone, lol =]

  • I’ve never really had any problems with that, except if I wanted to run out to my car quick I HAD to clock out. Understandable, but at the same time it doesn’t even take 5 minutes…

    Anyway, I think it really depends on the type of job you have and how important it is. I know they’re a lot more strict with stuff like that when you’re in the medical field or security.

  • When i was working we wernt aloud out the building :(
    So i quit haha it was a crappy job :P

  • I leave whenever the heck I want to.  I’m the boss.  I work for myself.

  • You should sue them.

    On the summerjob I had last year, we couldn’t leave during lunch, which is bullshit because when you have a break while you’re working here in Sweden (like a lunch break or another small break), you are free to go wherever you want and do whatever you want! But my boss didn’t think that. And even if I worked during my lunch, she wrote it down as a break. That’s why I contacted HER boss about it.

  • @omgitsmackie - Nope, we can’t leave the facility anymore during breaks. We used to be able to clock out and leave, but we can’t anymore because all our breaks are paid.

    @ox_Peanutt_xo - Ahhh I wish I could quit…but I have tons of bills =[

    @wandering_muse - Yea yea whatev… How have you been? I’ve been gone from Xanga for awhile…I should head over to your blog…

    @Nocturnal_Lilac - I can’t sue them if it’s not against the law. I was being a bit dramatic. I’m like that sometimes, lol

  • @crazy2love - Oh, that sucks. If you would faint from hunger, at least make them feel really bad about it!

  • I used to be when I was doing university research in the summer.  Crazy stuff.
