Concentrating On School Work
I’ve read the same two sentences about 5 times. I get to the end of the second sentence when I realize that I’m reading the words without digesting the information. Then I start over. And over. And over….
Why is this happening? This is for an online class, so I have to do all the readings. There isn’t much of a lecture, only a brief overview of what we will be reading….so who knows what’s going to be on the exams?? So I have to do all the readings. But I can’t concentrate. I’m even playing classical music to help. And I’m not even distracted by anything!! Damnit.
Does/has this ever happened to you when you do school work?? What the hell do you do about it??

This is familiar. Take some time to figure out what’s REALLY bothering you. It may help, when you resume reading, to outline the main points in a notebook, like we all did back in high school.
… I hardly read for college lol.
But, when I *did* read for a class, I did it in chunks, like 30 minutes. After that, I told myself that I would take a short break to play a quick game, then go back at it again. I have a terrible attention span, so breaking up my work into small pieces helped me focus.
I usually got a little fresh air and walked around and then I went back at it. For me a little break got me going again.
