Fishing Opener
Today, in Minnesota, tons of people are driving up north for the fishing opener. It’s pretty much a state holiday (not a real one…)
I, for one, have never been fishing. As a Minnesotan, I should have been fishing at least once. Nope. I’m sure all avid fisherman here in MN are ready to cuss me out for this transgression. The occasional fishermen will look at me with a raised eyebrow, “Are you serious?”
Well, I’m sorry. My answer, is NO.

Fishing…is alright. But I am not really into it. Lol. Never have been. Slimy thangs.
If work ever takes me to Minn. I would gladly take you fishing if you’d like.
I went fishing when I was a kid. I had a Snoopy fishing rod and it was pretty fun. We never fished around where I live though, we did it when we went to the beach, so maybe that’s what made it fun. Haven’t been fishing since I was a kid though.
I love fishing and the walleye and pike fishing is terrific! I’ve stopped at lots of places up around Lake of the Woods and had a lot of fun.
Too bad it’s about 1000 miles away from here though. Minnesota is a great place – I love traveling through it.
I am supposedly going fishing tomorrow on the Mississippi but I would rather spend time on the river boat casino.
Have you heard this joke: “If you’ve ever changed your wedding date because you realized it was in direct conflict with the fishing opener…You might be a Minnesota Redneck.”
That comes from a song called Minnesota Redneck. I did a post about it a while back.
Hey there, I’m just browsing around and leaving some comments as its always nice to talk to new people. I live just outside of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada, and I’ve finished with my business program in school and I’m just working now. I think if fishing is something you want to try you totally should do it, but if its really not something you have any interest in than that’s cool and there really is no reason for you to try it.
Ultimately you just have to do what you feel you want to do… not what everyone else would expect you to do. Just because you live in a state with lots of people who like to fish doesn’t mean you have to like it or want to do it. I was on a fishing boat off of Vancouver Island when I was 14 and I think I attempted to fish for a few minutes by a river in Indiana a few years ago.
That’s all I have for fishing experience. It wasn’t something I really found much enjoyment out of, so I really won’t be surprised if I never end up going again. Anyways, feel free to leave a comment on my site if you like… its great to hear from people. Take care and have a fantastic weekend.

I wonder if that’s the same as people thinking all Californians spend their lazy afternoons at the beach? lol
I think if you’re interested you should go at least once in your life, so you can see what all the fuss is about.
