I have worked at 2 companies after graduating high school. Both companies have serious problems getting employees their yearly reviews in a timely fashion.

For example, I was supposed to receive my review in April this year. Now, all raises, bonuses, and 401K matches were suspended for the year of ’09. The only exception is if you got a promotion. But still, wouldn’t you like to see your review anyway, just to see where you’re at as far as being a good/bad employee? Things you can work on?

Anyway, I didn’t receive my review until about a month and a half ago, so in October. THAT’S SIX FUCKING MONTHS LATE!!!! Might as well wait until April ’10 for fuck’s sake. And trust me, I kept asking about it. My previous employer wasn’t quite so bad…I think it was 3 months late there.

I was just wondering if anyone else runs into this problem where they work. Since I don’t have much work experience as far as how many places I’ve worked, so to me it’s like every company is like this. Or is this the exception?! What the fuck.

It just came up today because there was an employee concerned that he was getting screwed out of PTO time because he should be getting more now that he’s been there longer, and he thinks they have their anniversary date wrong. So the topic of reviews came up today…so I’m just wondering if this is normal to wait so long to receive your review.

Well, in their defense, things have been really crazy lately. We switched over to a new software that royally fucked us over (if you have the cheapest form of SAP where you work, I feel for you!! IT SUCKS). Then we’ve had 2 temporary layoffs that lasted 5 weeks each, and this is our 3rd (only lasting 4 weeks this time…that’s why I’m on 1st shift right now…). But still, is all that really an excuse for not getting a review done?!

  • THIS HAPPENED TO ME!!!! My review was due April 1st. They put the pay freeze in effect May 1st. My review was exactly 4 months and 17 days late. I’ve talked to my district manager about it countless times and he always said he would talk to human resources. We did the math and I was due at least $300 in back pay. Since my lazy ass manager royally screwed up I was promoted instead. Just talking about it STILL makes me furious.

  • That blows. And has never happened to me.

  • I think they should be more on time than that. I don’t have reviews whre I work but my mom did when she worked at her last place and they were on time for the most part. I think it should be part of their duties…I mean come on they expect their employees to be on time with things.

  • I don’t know about company thingy but that’s suck if you ahve to wait that long. Hope you’ll get soon!

  • Any way it could be casually brought up?
